Church Boards And Elected Officials
The Board of Deacons
Deacon Board
The Deacons are ordained to their work according to Acts 6:1-8 and 1st Timothy 3:8-13. The Board promotes Christian instruction and ministry to the Church membership, provides for ordinances and aid in their administration.
The Board of Deacons assists the Pastor in assuring the general spiritual welfare of the congregation, assists the Pastor in difficult problems of the ministry and sees to it that congregational discipline is carried out according to the dictates of the scripture.

Deaconess Board
The Deaconess Board is comprised of mature Christian women who are active in various ministries of the Church and evangelism in the community. The title of Deaconess is given by Second Baptist Church to recognize women who have completed Christian training and spiritual requirements authorizing them to provide volunteer spiritual care.
The Board of Deaconesses assists the Pastor in developing the spiritual life of the members of the Church for the best possible Christian service. The Deaconesses shall collaborate with the Pastor and the Board of Deacons in visiting the members; in the care of the sick, needy, and distressed members of the Church; and in the preparation of the observances of the Ordinances of the Church.

Trustee Board
The Trustee Board practices good stewardship in managing the financial blessings provided to the Church through tithes, offerings, gifts and other resources. Oversight of the receipt, collection and counting of monies received by the Church is provided by the Financial Secretary. The Treasurer and the Financial Secretary of the Church must be members of the Trustee Board. A Trustee must be a member in good and regular standing to participate on the Trustee Board. The Trustee Board also oversees and maintains the physical structure of the Church.

Church Clerk
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Church Clerk shall include, but are not limited to: recording the minutes at regularly scheduled Church meetings and call meetings and ensuring that a copy of the minutes is made available in the Church Office. The Church Clerk is also responsible for coordinating the reading of church announcements and prayer lists during the Sunday morning worship service.

The Assistant Church Clerk shall perform all of the duties of the Church Clerk in his/her absence.

Treasurer
The Treasurer must be bonded and will serve on the Finance Committee. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer shall include but are not limited to ensuring that generally accepted accounting practices and principles are applied at all times when managing the financial resources of the Church; maintaining custody of the funds of the Church and ensuring that all funds received on behalf of the Church are deposited within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt in a bank and done so in the name of the Church; prepare, in conjunction with the Finance Committee, an annual Church Budget for review and approval by the Church. Assistant Treasurer
The Assistant Treasurer must be bonded and will serve on the Finance Committee. The Assistant Treasurer shall assist the Treasurer in performing his/her duties as Treasurer and shall perform all of the duties of the Treasurer in his/her absence.

Financial Secretary
The Financial Secretary shall serve as a member of the Finance Committee and must be bonded. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Financial Secretary shall include but are not limited to working with the Treasurer to maintain an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements made on behalf of the Church; providing the Trustee Board or any other board, committee or ministry with any special financial reports requested; assist the Treasurer in the preparation and presentation of any financial reports to the Trustee Board, Deacon Board, Joint Board and at regularly scheduled Church meetings, assist the Treasurer in the preparation and presentation of the annual Church Budget.
William (Bill) LaRue
Parliamentarian
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Parliamentarian shall include but are not limited to interpreting the rules of order and the proper procedures for the conduct of all Church meetings; serving as a resource to the Pastor in the conduct of all Church meetings; and ensuring the policies and procedures as reflected in the Church Manual or any other official document of the Church are followed accordingly.

Internal Auditor
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Internal Auditor, including the additional members, shall include, but are not limited to: performing an annual internal audit of the Church’s financial records with a report to be presented to the Church at the March meeting of the following year; determine the validity and legality of all financial records of the Church and recommend risk aversion strategies if identified during the audit.
